So I was wondering, what is everyones full time job? Who works full time on the homestead? I'm a licensed plumber in TX as well as a chemical water treatment tech. Of course the goal is to be able homestead full time in the future. But before we can do that I'll need to increase our chicken and rabbit flock quite a bit in order to supplement my income. Lets hear from ya'll!

My military retirement takes care of most our expenses so I am able to watch my grand childen when the kids are working. On my days off from them I fill in at a veterinarian clinic, usually 4 days a month for extra spending $. I sell eating and hatching eggs as well as chicks and chickens to help pay for my critter addiction 😁. We try 1 or 2 new breeds/animal a year. Figured out rabbits, guineas, geese, ducks, and equine don't work for us. Got turkey poults this year and several colors of the bantam wyandottes to see how they work out. If whatever ends up here doesn't earn their keep or my heart they won't be here the next year. Still learning as we go. Been retired for almost 9 years now but most days I don't know if I'm coming or going. When taking care of the critters starts feeling like a full time job I know I have too many and start cutting back. They are here for our enjoyment and therapy...and to give us breakfast.

That's awesome that your able to live off of your retirement mostly and make the extra money from your animals. The money we make from selling eggs and animals is nice but usually seems like it just ends up covering feed cost Haha. I need to figure out a better strategy
